Interesting route and I hope the organizer can give us more excitement next year. Well the sand trail at the beginning was really fun. The technic was actually to land soft and execute shorter stride so that we will not waste unnecessary energy. This will be my last marathon before the Singapore marathon well a got race to boost my confidence. Well Done Organisers!! Thumbs up to all!!!

Yesterday, I took my road bike and measured the run route for both the 10km and 15km run. Based on the race booklet that came with the prelude, the 10km route was effectively 12.5km and the 15km route was 16.3km. From start to Changi Coast Rd (1.9km), lamp-post 235 to 151 (2.5km), lamp-post 235 to Changi Beach entrance (0.5km), stretch of Changi Beach (1.2km), and distance from start point to finishing (0.3km). If the 10km turn-around was moved to lamp-post 185 instead of 151, the reduction in distance would be about 2km, making it more or less 10km. Unfortunately, there is no possible turnaround from the park connector to Changi Coast Rd to make the 16.3km route shorter. An alternative is to move the start point to Changi Coast Rd and keeping everything else unchanged for the 10km. Likewise, move 1.3km nearer to Changi Coast Rd for the 15km route. If nothing is changed, runners please pace yourself respectively for that distance.

During the 10km trial run, the turn around was near lamp post 149 instead of 165 as in the route map. This effectively increased the distance by about 1.5km (750m x 2) which made the run close to 12km instead of 10km. I hope this is not the actual route.

Yups! Initially, I thought it was 1 km as stated in the map shown in their website. From the map, the runway start from the T-junction along the Changi Coast Road to the Changi Convention Center.

The stretch of road that we ran is definitely more than 1 km. Furthermore, there's no special identification to show that it is a runway. It looks like normal stretch of road that can be converted to a runway for emergency landing. Like the one in Lim Chu Kang or along ECP.

I am not sure how they define runway. I hope I lessen your confusion. :)

Thanks for the review. I was travelling so missed the training run. I'd been wondering about the trail and how my legs would cope with both train and sand ! The sand start and finish was tough on Sentosa. I'm confused though. You mention 2-3km on the runway. I thought it was only meant to be 1km ?
