Looking for a fun way to do your part for the environment?
Look no further than the NTUC Income RUN 350, Organised by Young NTUC! This event is Southeast Asia’s premier eco-run, aimed at raising awareness about the need to lower carbon emissions so as to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.
This year’s edition of the run will take place on Sunday, 7 April 2013, at The Float@Marina Bay. Be one of 15,000 runners the race is hoping to draw. As with past years’ runs, there will be 21km and 10km categories for competitive runners and a 350m kids dash. After all, it’s never too early to teach our children about the importance of protecting the environment!
The global 350 movement aims to highlight the need to lower atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions to 350 parts per million (ppm), which scientists believe is the safe upper limit for sustainable living. Currently, atmospheric CO2 levels stand at over 390 ppm, a level that has serious implications on the future of our planet.
The 350 Singapore movement was formed by Young NTUC in 2010. The NTUC Income RUN 350 event is aimed at rallying more people around the 350 movement and inspiring positive change. A portion of the race proceeds is going towards Garden City Fund’s Plant-A-Tree Programme. NTUC Income RUN 350 has already planted 629 trees, but race organisers need your help to plant even more trees this year!
The run is itself being organised in environmentally friendly ways: A paperless registration and race pack collection process, the use of bio-diesel at the race village, proper green waste management and recycling measures. In addition, bicycle racks will be present to encourage runners to cycle to the race site and a recycling drive leading up to the run will engage the public about the 350 movement. Little steps towards a greener future.
The NTUC Income RUN 350, Organised by Young NTUC, has come a long way since its first edition in 2010 in Pulau Ubin. Don’t miss this chance to Race the Present and Save the Future!
